Before You Start Writing

• Read the question 2-3 times — underline command words ("discuss", "critically analyze", "evaluate", "trace", "examine") and the actual subject
• Spend 3-5 minutes making a rough outline on the rough sheet before writing — saves you from running out of structure mid-answer
• Identify which "type" of question it is (see below) — this decides your structure

Question Types in Pakistan Affairs & How to Structure Each

1. Historical/Chronological ("Trace the...", "Discuss the events leading to...")

• Intro (1-2 lines: define scope/timeframe)
• Chronological body — use sub-headings with years/dates as anchors
• Cause → event → consequence chain
• Conclusion linking past to present relevance

2. Analytical/Critical ("Critically analyze", "Evaluate")

• Intro (define the issue/concept)
• Body: Present both sides — achievements/positives AND criticisms/failures (never one-sided)
• Use sub-headings: "Successes", "Challenges/Criticism"
• Conclusion: balanced judgment, not just summary — give your own reasoned stance

3. Current Affairs Linked ("Discuss X in light of recent developments")

• Intro: brief background
• Body: connect historical/structural context to the CURRENT situation (most recent facts/events)
• Always cite something recent (last 6-12 months) if possible — shows you're updated
• Conclusion: forward-looking (policy recommendation or likely trajectory)
