Core Argument

Human dignity in Islam is conferred by creation, not earned by status — wa laqad karramnā banī Ādam (17:70). The verb is karramnā, "We have honoured," and its object is banī Ādam, the children of Adam — all of them, believer and non-believer, of every colour, race and creed. The 20-mark thesis is therefore a two-step argument: dignity is universal and inalienable because it is a divine grant; and superiority is available only through taqwā, which is invisible, unmeasurable by others, and therefore useless as a basis for social hierarchy (49:13). Together these two verses dismantle racism, casteism, nationalism and class supremacy at the root.
